World Economic News

Let me ask some questions.

If a country had a 52.3% GDP growth, what would you think?

Would you think like me?, wow, something amazing is going on in that country.

Of course we all know that only a burgeoning young country could put up such numbers.

Did any new countries start up while I wasn't looking?

Can anyone name this country?

Who is this young country that has an economy that is ripping like this?

Well, that would be Iraq.

Thanks to Atlas Shrugs, go see the 165 top GDP growths around the world.

Just consider, if you can grow anything at just 10% per year, it will only take a little better than 7 years to double it. 52.3% is a pretty good start.

Some other notables...

USA #88 at 4.4%
UK #115 at 3.2%
Germany #151 at 1/7%
France #141 at 2.1%
Japan #124 at 2.9%

And

Afghanistan #29 at 7.5%

Notice, the war in Iraq is going badly?

Afghanistan is a forgotten war?

I think their economies would beg to differ...

I just beheaded my stockbroker for not having me more fully invested in Iraq.

The effin' infidel.
